Cultural Events in Les Portes du Soleil
Summer in Les Portes du Soleil is an invitation to experience the mountains in a different light. While the landscapes are spectacular and the sports activities diverse, the region’s cultural richness deserves just as much attention. Between age-old traditions, contemporary creativity, artisanal know-how and festive gatherings, the villages of the area passionately celebrate their identity. From Les Gets to Morgins, via Avoriaz, Montriond and Châtel, the summer season is marked by numerous events.

Le Musée en Fête
Every summer, Les Gets pays tribute to its unique heritage through an event as surprising as it is enchanting: Le Musée en Fête. For this 7th edition, on July 20, 2025, mechanical music meets drawing in a one-of-a-kind artistic encounter. Original compositions, musical improvisations, stage performances and visual creations will punctuate this exceptional day. The event will notably mark the restoration of Pablo Picasso’s famous mechanical piano, unveiled to the public for the first time in all its splendour, as well as the release of the very first comic book dedicated to mechanical music, created by illustrator Félix Meynet. A touching and inspiring celebration that ties heritage and contemporary creation at the heart of the mountains.
Les Feux du Lac – Montriond
On Saturday, August 2, 2025, Montriond will host its traditional Fête du Lac, a much-anticipated event that combines a warm atmosphere with grand spectacle. Starting at 5 p.m., open-air concerts, food stands run by local associations and various activities will set the tone for the evening. At 10:30 p.m., the fireworks display launched from the lake’s edge will offer a dazzling light show on the water’s surface, with this year’s theme: the 1980s. The evening will continue with a special DJ set celebrating this iconic decade. Adapted traffic measures and free shuttles from Morzine and several parking areas will make it easier to access the site.
Craft Festival – Avoriaz
On Wednesdays July 23 and August 13, 2025, Avoriaz will host two days combining open-air shopping and the discovery of Alpine craftsmanship. The large clearance sale will feature discounts of up to 60%, a chance to find unique items or prepare for winter at great prices. At the same time, the village will honour mountain artisans: producers, creators and enthusiasts will present their work and share their connection to the region. A day for the whole family, blending good deals with authentic encounters, all set against the unique backdrop of the car-free resort.
La Belle Dimanche – Châtel
On August 17, 2025, Châtel will celebrate the 47th edition of La Belle Dimanche, one of the oldest traditional festivals in Haute-Savoie. Held in Plaine-Dranse, this day honours Alpine pastoralism, with the arrival of herds, the blessing of shepherds during an open-air mass, and an immersion into daily life in the mountain pastures. Throughout the day, visitors and families can explore a wide range of traditional crafts such as wood carving, pottery, jewellery and natural products, along with entertainment provided by local associations. Folk music, Alphorns, brass bands and street performers will add rhythm to this warm, deeply rooted celebration of Savoyard traditions. Access is only possible on foot, via free shuttle or the Pierre Longue chairlift.
Between traditional festivals, musical performances, artisan markets and gastronomic celebrations, the cultural events of Les Portes du Soleil embody a true mountain art of living. Each gathering is a chance to reconnect with what matters: the land, the people who bring it to life, and shared moments that leave a lasting impression. Whether you’re a local, a summer visitor or simply curious, these highlights reflect the soul of the mountains in summer: vibrant, welcoming and inspiring. And if you are looking for a residence, the consultants at Barnes Portes du Soleil will be happy to assist you.
