The area offers a wealth of hiking trails suitable for all levels, with routes varying in distance, elevation and duration. Each itinerary starts from a different point, inviting you to explore fresh scenery every day. Ready to wander through lush alpine meadows, admire sweeping views of the Mont Blanc massif and experience the mountain atmosphere you love? BARNES Portes du Soleil reveals five of the most beautiful hikes in Les Gets to add to your itinerary.
1. The Grand Tour of Mont Chéry
This challenging route is perfect for seasoned hikers looking to explore the full Mont Chéry area. Starting from the upper station of the Mont Chéry cable car and finishing in the village of Les Gets, the trail covers around 13 kilometres in approximately four and a half hours. Expect a total ascent of 590 metres and a descent of 960 metres. There is also an alternate loop that passes via the Col de Lachat, adding about fifteen minutes to the walk and rewarding you with breathtaking views over Mont Blanc and the Prealps.
2. The Mont Chéry Ridge Trail

If you are confident on steeper terrain, the Mont Chéry Ridge Trail is a must. The initial ascent is demanding but leads quickly to the summit, where a spectacular 360-degree panorama awaits. Continue along the ridge to reach the alpine hamlet of Mont Caly — a peaceful spot to pause and take in the scenery. This Alpine hike covers 8.3 kilometres and takes around three and a half hours, with an ascent of 460 metres and a descent of 830 metres. The start and finish points are the same as the Grand Tour of Mont Chéry.
3. The Balconies of Mont Chéry
If you have yet to admire the full splendour of the Mont Blanc massif, this Les Gets hike is an ideal introduction. The main route takes about two and a half hours and is accessible even to children, making it a perfect family walk. Along the way, you’ll pass through the hamlet of Mont Caly, where you can enjoy a picnic with panoramic views. A slightly longer variant adds about thirty minutes and a gentle 100-metre ascent. Once again, the starting and finishing points are shared with the other Mont Chéry trails.
4. The Grand Tour of the Chavannes
For more experienced hikers, the Grand Tour of the Chavannes is a rewarding challenge offering magnificent views of Mont Blanc, the Morzine valley, Samoëns and the Chablais peaks. This four-and-a-half-hour loop stretches over 14 kilometres, with a 720-metre climb and 710-metre descent. The trail begins in the hamlet of Les Puthays and ends in the village of Les Gets, promising an unforgettable journey through a dramatic mountain landscape.
5. The Goats Trail

For a gentle family walk, the Goats Trail offers an hour and a half of easy hiking through meadows and woodland dotted with whimsical wooden sculptures. The route is about five kilometres long with a modest ascent of 40 metres and a 410-metre descent — one of the most accessible hikes in Les Gets. Start from the top station of the Mont Chéry cable car, admire the mountain views, and finish your outing with a family lunch in the village.
