Hiking in Les Gets

You come to spend a stay with friends or family in Haute-Savoie, a beautiful department of France, or you own a residence in these French Alps? If you are of a sporty temperament and especially passionate about hiking, the ski resort Les Gets in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region is made for you. Indeed, you will discover many hiking trails, corresponding to different levels of practice according to the difficulty (duration, difference in level). Each circuit has a different starting point, allowing you to discover a trail and unique landscapes - green trails, view on the tip of a mountain or on the Mont-Blanc Massif. BARNES Portes du Soleil reveals the seven most beautiful hiking itineraries in Les Gets to discover as soon as possible!

The Grand Tour of Mont-Chéry

Recommended for experienced hikers, the Grand Tour du Mont-Chéry allows you to discover the entire domain with a departure point located at the arrival station of the Mont-Chéry gondola and an arrival in the Village of Les Gets. This hike in Les Gets will last 4h30 and will cover a distance of about 13 kilometers. To admire the mountainous landscapes of this part of the Haute-Savoie, your walk will be enhanced by a difference in altitude of up to 590 meters in ascent and 960 meters in descent. There is also a variant of this itinerary, at the same starting and finishing points, but which takes you to the Lachat pass for an additional 15 minutes. This pass offers a breathtaking panorama of the Mont Blanc chain and the Pre-Alps.

The Crêtes du Mont-Chéry

Hiking in Les Gets, Haute-Savoie, mountains

Do you know how to walk on a complicated trail? It's time to go on the Crêtes du Mont-Chéry, a hike in Les Gets. This hike starts quickly with a difficult part of the trail but gives you the opportunity to reach the top of the Mont-Chéry. This summit reveals a sumptuous 360° panorama. Continuing on the trail, the alpine hamlet of Mont-Caly awaits you to offer you a moment of serenity in the middle of nature. For this hike in the French Alps, plan on a minimum duration of 3h30 for a distance of 8.3 kilometers and with a difference in altitude of up to 460 meters on the way up and 830 meters on the way down. The starting point and the finish are identical to those of the Grand Tour du Mont-Chéry.

The Balconies of Mont-Chéry

Have you ever admired the Mont Blanc massif? If you have never seen this mountain range and its wonders, a hike in Les Gets is the ideal experience to enjoy these landscapes. The main itinerary lasts an estimated 2.5 hours and is 30 kilometers long, but it is still accessible to children. You can therefore take a family hike, during which you will cross the hamlet of Mont-Caly where you can enjoy an outdoor lunch. A variant of the Balcons de Mont-Chéry is possible and extends the hiking time by 30 minutes, offering a difference in altitude of up to 100 meters in ascent and 390 meters in descent. The starting and ending points are once again the same as for the other possible hikes at Mont-Chéry.

The Grand Tour des Chavannes

Another hike in Les Gets for the more adventurous - the Grand Tour des Chavannes. This itinerary is not recommended for beginners but offers magnificent panoramas of the Mont-Blanc, the Morzine valley, Samoens and the peaks of the Chablais. Experienced hikers will appreciate this 4.5 hour walk through a 14 kilometer long sportive route (up to 720 meters in altitude and 710 meters in descent). Enjoy a privileged moment in a unique mountain range. Your starting point will be at the Hameau des Puthays and the itinerary will bring you to the village of Les Gets.

The goat circuit

Hiking in Les Gets - village

For a special moment with your family, this hike in Les Gets is perfect for you. Enjoy an hour and a half walk to discover a green, mountainous landscape with wooden statues on a 5 kilometer trail. With a reasonable difference in altitude of 40 meters on the way up and 410 meters on the way down, this circuit is one of the easiest among the walks in Le Gets. Start at the Mont-Chéry gondola arrival station, discover the mountainous massifs in the distance and arrive for a family meal in the village of Les Gets.

Les Gets, the Portes du Soleil ski resort, offers the perfect mountain holiday, with plenty of walks to enjoy with family and friends. In Haute-Savoie, there are other resorts where walking tours are also possible. You can hike in Morzine or Avoriaz. And if you fall in love with the scenery? Then it's time to buy a prestigious property in the Portes du Soleil.
