The origins of Essert-Romand and Côte d'Arbroz

Is a residence with mountain views what you've always dreamed of? But do you want a more peaceful commune than the famous ski resorts of Les Gets, Montriond or Morzine? Discover two sumptuous communes in the heart of the mountains: Essert-Romand and Côte d'Arbroz. The name of the commune of Essert-Romand comes from the Roman name Essartum Romanorum, meaning "the essart of the Romans" and "Essert" designating a place that was cleared by the Romans. If you choose to spend your Haute-Savoie adventure in the eastern French commune of Essert-Romand, you'll discover its authenticity as you stroll through the village and discover its church: the church of Saint-Louis-de-Gonzague. This church in Haute-Savoie was built thanks to its parish, which founded it after becoming independent from that of Saint-Jean-d'Aulps. La Côte d'Arbroz, just 3 kilometres from Essert-Romand, also has a wealth of historical remains to offer. Originally, this commune was a colony of the Abbey of Aulps and then belonged to the parish of Les Gets. In the 18th century, the commune became a parish independent of that of Les Gets, and a parish church was built for it - the church of Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption. Partly demolished in the course of history, it underwent a number of restorations before being rebuilt in 1882. Each village has its own story to tell - villages with a history punctuated by war and religious conflict that have become must-see tourist attractions in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region.
